Good afternoon Rockdale Ram Nation. This is to serve as a reminder that tonight, Friday, April 28th at 6:30 pm is our Rockdale Talent Show sponsored by our Student Council. This event is free, but we are taking new pet donations for our NJHS Pet Supply Drive. Talent Show participants should arrive to the school at 5:45 pm at the ramp door. Only participants will be admitted into the building at this time. Ramp doors will open promptly at 6:15 pm and everyone will be invited to the Rockdale gym. Students that are not part of the talent show must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Good luck to our Talent Show participants. Thanks for your time and consideration. As a way to “be silly” after our IAR, Illinois Assessment for Readiness, testing, our 4th Graders had a blast being “silly” with our 4th Grade students and staff! Thanks for allowing me to be a part of it. A special thank you to Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Shear for organizing this fun activity for their 4th Graders, but also for the “pre-test” morning surprises during testing! Way to go 4th Grade! #4thgradeROCKS! Good morning Rockdale Rams Nation. Recently, some of our 6th, 7th and/or 8th Grade Rockdale Rams boys and girls volleyball players were selected to play in the All-star game. This is a tremendous honor. We are proud of you and thank you for representing Rockdale Rams Nation! We would like to celebrate the great seasons that both the girls and boys volleyball teams had this year. There was tremendous growth from day one until seasons’ end for both teams. Continue growing and working hard as a student athlete. A special thank you to Coach Shear and Coach Mooney for leading our volleyball student athletes this season. Buenos días nación Rockdale Rams. Good evening Rockdale Ram Nation! Please help our Rockdale National Junior Honor Society members make a difference in the community. NJHS will be running a Pet Supply Drive from April 24-May 12 for the Paws Up 4 Rescue organization. Fliers will be sent home with our students by the end of next week. Please be on the lookout for this flier. We will have donation containers in the main office to collect items so please come up to the main school office window in the front of the school from 9:30-3:00 pm Monday-Friday. Students may bring in items off of the recommended donation list, but must drop them off in the main office before moving to the rest of the building. Donations will be collected at the Student Council Talent Show too. Should you have any questions related to the NJHS Pet Supply Drive, please contact Ms. Kirk at hkirk@rockdale84.org. Good evening Rockdale Ram Nation. After 6 long years, since March/April of 2018, Rockdale track and field student athletes were back on the track to compete against other Little 7 conference foes. We had lots of nervous student athletes on the trip over, but what a great starting point today with live competition. So proud of our eleven Rockdale track and field participants and Coach Contreras for their tremendous effort, determination, and the perseverance they displayed this afternoon. We missed Coach Whalen tremendously, but he will be back at the next meet. A special thanks to Lockport East High School for the use of their facility. Good evening Rockdale Ram Nation! This is to serve as notice regarding the annual Easter Egg Hunt held at CB Diamond, corner of Meadow and Brandon Road. The event will be held on Saturday, April 8th promptly at 10 am and is for Rockdale residents ONLY, toddlers, Kindergarten thru 4th Graders. Yes, EB, Easter Bunny, will be making an appearance at the event. This is a rain or shine event. Should it rain on Saturday, April 8th, the Hunt will be held at Village Hall, corner of Moen and Ferris. Rockdale School will be distributing the fliers to our Rockdale Kindergarten thru 4th Grade students on Wednesday, April 5th, after Spring Break. I have attached the flier to this notice so you are in the loop. A special thank you to the Village of Rockdale for sponsoring the event, to Mayor and Mrs. Wyke for coordinating the event, and for the generous donations made by Mr. Masoud from J and M Food Mart. So proud of our Rockdale Rams staff who wore their brightly colored, mismatched socks, etc. in honor and support of World Down Syndrome Day which is celebrated annually on March 21st. March 21st is symbolic because people with Down Syndrome have three (3) copies of their 21st chromosome. I would say that our Rockdale staff did “ROCK their socks 2023” yesterday! Awesome job and thank you for your support of this special day! A special thank you to our phenomenal Rockdale PTO for sponsoring, hard work in organizing and setting up the event, Home Cut Donuts ( #homecutdonuts ) for their generous donation of ten dozen donuts for the event, to our dedicated Rockdale Police and Fire Department for mingling with our parents, students, and staff, and to our amazing Rockdale staff for assisting with set up, tear down, and mingling with our Rockdale Rams and grownups.
